A short piece in the paper brought the news.
The world seemed to take no notice really—
For there was other news
That filled their lives.
No eyes were damp and few lives seemed lessened
By the fact.
The world of men did not seem to care except
For a few relatives and friends.
How odd that someone so attuned to God and creation—
So filled with meaning should pass so unnoticed
by men.
But the grass is weeping: I seem to hear it
When I step—
And the trees cry leaves of great color to honor him.
Dolores Jean writes out of her inspiring life: a Reading Specialist with two Master’s Degrees in reading and education, a fifth grade teacher, a Children’s Literature librarian for over 40 years, and a Eucharistic minister for the sick and injured.
